Dujiangyan City

Located in the northwest of Chengdu plain, Dujiangyan city is a county level city, 48km away from Chengdu. It is named after the world famous ancient waterworks project Dujiangyan Irrigation System and handed down by the birthplace of Taoism Mount Qingcheng. With a history of over 2,200 years, the famous attraction Dujiangyan Irrigation System on the Minjiang River is known as the “ancestor of world water conservancy culture”, which makes Chengdu plain a famed Land of Abundance. Constructed around 256 BC, it is the oldest and only surviving non-dam irrigation system in the world, and still in use today. What’s more, Dujiangyan Panda Base is the only place in the world where you can hold a giant panda to take your picture.
